Benoît Grovel - Senior Naval Architect

After graduating in Mechanical Engineering from Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts et Métiers and in Naval Architecture from Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Techniques Avancées, Benoît began his professional career in 1998 as a project engineer at Bureau Veritas. He then joined Total in 2001 as a technical superintendent in the Shipping Division.

Up until 2010, Benoît was responsible for overseeing the construction of LNG carriers—the Arctic Lady, the Seri Balhaf and the Seri Balqis — to export Total’s LNG production.

From 2012 to 2017, he worked on the Ichthys LNG project. He was responsible for designing the hull, living quarters and mooring system of the semi-submersible gas production platform. He was subsequently in charge of overseeing its construction. He was then seconded to INPEX as Transportation & Installation Lead for the two offshore facilities.

His current position is Senior Naval Architect. He is a technical adviser to various projects. He also audits floating units within Total and oversees structural repairs and mooring installation campaigns.
