Gilles Darche - Reservoir Simulation Expert

After graduating from the Polytechnic and IFP schools in 1987 and 1988 respectively, Gilles earned a Master’s degree in Geophysics from Stanford University, USA in 1990.

He has been working for Total since 1990. He started out as a geophysicist engineer in the ELF Group, and then went on to work as a reservoir engineer in 2000 after the merger with Total.

His work in this job began with reservoir studies at Total’s technical center in Pau, France and later, R&D activities on the thermal recovery of heavy oils, before being appointed head of geosciences for the development of the Nkossa field (Congo).

Since 2013, he has been the head of the R&D team for reservoir simulation in the Simulation Department in Pau, and became a “Reservoir Simulation” expert in 2015.

He has written and co-written 12 scientific papers dealing with image processing, seismic imagery, modeling of thermal processes, and reservoir simulation.
