Prior to that position in Pau, he was subsurface team manager on the Elgin-Franklin field (UK) and GSR manager for the development of the Moho-Bilondo deep offshore field (Congo). In 2011, he was appointed manager of the EOR team at Total headquarters to work on both laboratory and simulation subjects.

His current topics of interest focus mainly on EOR mechanisms (thermal, chemical, miscible gas) and the simulation of complex physical properties, including their scaling from laboratory to field scale.  

Marcel graduated as an engineer from the École des Mines de Paris (1990) and has a Master of Science in Petroleum Engineering from Stanford University, USA, which he completed in 1992. He is also a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) since 1991. He has written 10 scientific papers and co-written another 6 in the fields of well test analysis, EOR, and gas injection.
